Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.2/100, a mean average of 72.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 8.6.

For me, this was the best album since Rockoon, overall it delivers a very fresh, stronger sound than some of the albums released immediately before it. The heavily processed electric drums and electric bass sequence which open track 1 immediately capture the attention. I have a vast collection of Tangerine Dream material and have been lucky enough to see them live three times. As a musician, my interest in synths was awakened by Tangerine Dream. I enjoy most of their material for different reasons but I would say that certain albums define moments in time. This album was most definitely the height of TD period as just father and son. The use of 'played' electric drums as well as drum machines is evident and gives the album a fresh modern (at the time of release) feel. Listening to it now as I type, twenty years after it's release, it still sounds fresh. Top tracks imo are Astrophobia, Pilots of the Ether Belt and Comets Figure Head.
