From the layered vocals of the majestic opening track to the gruffer ones later on and the falsetto, a cacophony of sound is battling to drown the continuing psychedelic theme.
T7 is pure sixties psychedelic rock. You can almost smell the joss sticks.
T11: Light opens with a cappella beauty and then launches into the album's most experimental track so far. Grunts & animal noises don't of course turn Royal Canoe into Soft Machine, but this track may welly bring a smile If I Had a House, this disc would almost be in it; but it would not be wearing out my sound system.
There is a great eight track album desperate to crawl out of this set. Track 13 would definitely be on it. A jazzier, more uptempo, indie pop track with a bit of electronics thrown in for good measure. I should be tiring, by now, but this track has re-ignited my interest.
There is a clear Soul quality to the bonus track (T14), Summersweat. but like the vast majority of the tracks on the album, there is no musical purity. If an album ever deserved to be called 'experimental', it would be this one.
