Of the Pistol Annies, I guess you could consider the Anne Bronte to Lambert and Monroe's Emily and Charlotte, respectively. She lacks the attitude and heavier edge to her songs that Lambert has as well as the emotional depth of Monroe, but her dryer and more direct style does make for some detailed and compelling observations & characters. While the album may just be a little too even and understated for it's own good as it sags a bit at times, it's still a promising debut from the less-heralded PA member and it's best numbers (like Life of the Party and Grocery Store) have a subtle potency to them.
