Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.9/100, a mean average of 71.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

While this isn’t nearly my go-to record or sound when it comes to Rush, their debut is worth a listen purely to hear how Alex was already, assuredly, a guitar hero.

Geddy’s playing is also very strong but Alex is the absolute MVP of this record.

Blues based hard rock is not the kind of music they now are famously known for but regardless this is a truly great record. Very well played, as always.
Working Man is a masterpiece.

Great debut, every track is solid. This alone is a very good album, but not as good as what Rush would continue to do in the late 70s and early 80s.

This is an amazing debut from RUSH that I just now discovered. They were so damn hard and bluesy on this released. Loved every track. "Working Man" has always been one of my favorites. A true musical Masterpiece!

Canada's Zeppelin. Pounding bluesy rock. Very much of its time but pure class

I really appreciate Rush’s straightforward rock here especially Finding My Way, What You’re Doing and Working Man. I think those three songs alone should give this album a higher ranking. The rest of the album is solid with great guitar solos. The album has some blues influences but it’s much heavier.

No Peart yet, but that doesn't keep this from being a kickass album. The musical elements of what would become the worlds greatest hard rock/prog band are already evident, even if the songwriting isn't quite there yet.
