Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.3/100, a mean average of 76.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

I know this thread has been dead for over a year but I have two contributions: Both having stellar careers in other projects (Ty having other solo albums under another alias). They're dirtier than a certain female member of your family and as powerful as hell. Plus Blood Visions is a concept album…

One of only two records made by Jay before he passed away. Very hectic and high energy punk rock with call and response vocals. Extremely tight and impressive playing when you consider that Jay played almost everything minus his girlfriend at the time who played bass in one or two tracks.

The master is intentionally blown out and lo-fi (kind of like the Iggy mix of Raw Power) and the songs are short and catchy. Jay could've gone on to do a lot more, but he still left a good legacy. (Edited)

Very visceral garage rock with some definite punk influence. One of my favourite records of the decade, as every song seems to be better than the last. The repetitive and aggressive guitar riffs and low-budget feel makes it seem like it was actually recorded in his garage. The cover itself is just incredibly disturbed, which matches his overly-maniacal and ironic tone as he shouts almost monosyllabically. A great record and recommended to me by a friend who I should talk to more. (Edited)

I fail to see why exactly this album has not reached a high position on the chart for its year of release. It's easily one of the best things to happen during a relative monotonous year in music (or just in general). The sheer punk-rock and violently lyrical forces guiding this thing are bewildering. Plus, who does not love a self-ascribed "concept album about killing a girl"?

One of the best, if not THE best, rock 'n' roll records of the last 20 years. Yes - it's THAT good. (Edited)

Great slashing album reminiscent of great early 80's punk acts like Rik L Rik and Jeff Dahl.
