Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.6/100, a mean average of 74.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

What a performer. This man is so far in his bag on some of these songs it's ridiculous. He cultivates a completely unique style full of theatrics and fragile machismo. He displays an improved songwriting ability compared to his debut with some relatively complex personal compositions. His renditions of Brel songs are just fantastic. The whole album is full of drama and grotesque imagery.

The orchestration in this is great and Walker's voice suits everything perfectly. "Best of Both Worlds" is a fantastic track.

Scott Walker's crooner reinterpretations. He was one of the best at reinventing other people's music and make it his own. Also, it includes some avantgarde classical-crooner music.

Although it's not quite as inventive as his later records, this is my personal favorite of Scott Walker's albums. His voice stands out as an incredible force that very few can compare to. Many of the best songs are from the Jacques Brel catalog that Walker borrowed from so often early on, and his selections are excellent.
