I can't help but like this quirky album. It's a collection of traditional folk songs with a "freak" twist on it. The songs are structurally similar to the originals but the main difference are the updated lyrics that appear throughout. "Hesitation Blues" is an example of updated lyrics and it contains the first use of the term "psychedelic" in popular music which is important given the term's eventual connotations to music. The Holy Modal Rounders are among the few acts willing to push the boundaries of what could have been considered "obscene" at the time. "Mr. Spaceman" is the most ambitious song on the album, in my opinion.
