Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.6/100, a mean average of 72.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.1.

The heavy duty session musicians are back with what came as a big surprise to a lot of non-fans (not a reference to the millions of haters).
These songs clarify an energy and an artistic progression this is still fully alive in this great band that were defining for the sound of the 80's (not with their own music but with the recordings that echo throughout time to this day such as Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Donald Fagen's "The Nightfly").
This is not an album that is made for the money but for the nostalgia and fun.
Lukather is brilliant and without him in the line up, Toto wouldnøt even exist to this day. Furthermore, his arrangements are clearly what carries most of the record, I think.
Williams' vocals are sharp although CJ Vanston's production is way too pop-oriented, especially a shame with the equalized vocals and layers.
Still, a great and surprising release with several great songs, including "Chinatown", "Great Expectations" and "Holy War".
Thanks, Toto!
