Men Amongst Mountains is a mostly average and forgettable output from The Revivalists. It's lifted by the incredibly infectious single Wish I Knew You, which sounds different to everything else on the album. The band showcases new sides to their music on this release, such as the ability to craft dance-floor-friendly singles or a more vulnerable and emotional side on tracks like Gold To Glass and It Was A Sin.

This album is more melancholic and less hard-hitting as the preceding two albums. It combines elements of folk and blues-rock to craft a largely coherent sound with little variation apart from Wish I Knew You. The loud guitars are intertwined with poppier synths on some tracks. The First half is great, but by the second half things turn repetitive and the later songs fail to stand out. That's not to say there aren't attempts from the band to throw in something different into the mix; Stand Out could have been leftover from the previous album, while All In The Family is close to hard rock.
