A timeless, totally original album. Possibly the best entry point into Freds music. There's a lot of variety here, even within the first couple of tracks it goes from the indie rock sound of October, to the quirky prog of Djin Djin, then the sunblushed acoustic pop of Summers Coming. It never sounds like a hodge podge though, these tracks somehow tie together beautifully. The thing that really blows me away about Making Music is the arrangements. Vocal harmonies, string sections, brass, layered percussion, great basslines it's all here. Listen to the close harmony at the start of Lets Get It Wrong, it's not just following along on the 3rd there's a whole other melody there! Or the syncopated piano in Topography, or the totally insane bass riff in Djin Djin. I could give a dozen more examples, there's so much to hear.
