A master-class in lo-fi recording. David Nelligan assembles a rich sonic tapestry using a dizzying array of sounds both real and synthetic. These songs have been arranged with the utmost attention to detail, no instrument feels unnecessary or out of place. The lyrics are insightful, intelligent and often amusing (I particularly like Hell is a Waiting Room). Dark Matters is a great example of what can be achieved recording at home with a very modest set-up. The whole thing was written, arranged, performed, recorded, mixed and even mastered by one supremely talented dude.
