The thing with compilations, the best is only there, floating at the top. The resulting albums generally have no feeling or soul.
However, the history behind this group makes that all right. There aren't any studio albums to go off of. Instead, we get all the recordings known of this obscure Punk/Mod band from the late 70s. This collection was released in 2002, years after being recorded and sitting around.
What sets this out from other late 70s punk groups that got much more attention was their realization that music is more than layering on sounds. Sometimes, sparcity is the greatest tool. They can be sparse, moody while still retaining the punk sound. What you receive is usually pure, raw punk that sometimes comes across as haunting (check After All for an example). If you have any interest in punk, give this a listen as soon as you can, please.
