Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. Scots composer Anna Meredith has been involved in all manner of fun cross-disciplinary projects (including a musical flashmob on a motorway), and her style is similarly all over the shop. Varmints is a very swish example of what she can do. Not a massive fan of the vocals, but that quickly ceases to be a problem. Also, we need to bring the word “varmints” back.
Best track: Nautilus. I defy you to find a more stomping opening track from this year. Brass ahoy!
