Some great songs and all in all a nice effort. Nothing great, but the atmosphere sure feels epic at times.
Favortir tracks: Flight of Apollo, Shove
There are holes on both halves of the LOVE saga, but this first half is considerably stronger.
It does truly feel like Tom had the makings of one really great record and instead sacrificed it in order to stretch this project into a double-album. If Saturday Love, Surrender, and Anxiety had been on this record in the place of Young London, Moon-Atomic, and Clever Love, it would have been a truly fantastic record.
Love Part One is definitely a sonic progression from I-Empire -- we are seeing less reliance on guitars and more emphasis on atmosphere. The production is good, and Tom's voice is ever-improving from album-to-album.
Overall solid effort, and probably the last great AVA record that Tom writes by himself without the assistance of Ilan Rubin.
