Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. One of the most original artists to emerge from the 1980s. Started out as hillbilly twang, then moved toward gender-bending soulful songstress. Forgive the term, but KD Lang had balls. She wrote what she wanted and performed what she wanted, and produced some impressive work. A little inconsistent, but deserves to be much higher regarded on this site.
