I liked the variety of instruments: guitars, percussion, strings, keyboards, clarinet, and the music is put together quite well. However, I also find the music too restrained, though perhaps that is just a feature to be expected from an album of torch songs.
The album also has several great songwriting moments. But I found their structures very formulaic: verses and chorus repeat, and throw in an instrumental somewhere in the middle.
I'd say they were trying too hard to be radio friendly, and with a bit more daring this album could have been more interesting. But it's still a good album, with very good vocal performance as well.
Shortlisted for album of the year at the 1993 Grammys. the winner was Unplugged by Eric Clapton.

A beautiful, fine-sounding and extremely well-produced album gives you many great moments such as:
Save me, Mind of love, Miss Chatelaine, Constant Graving, Wash Me Clean

A beautiful album centred around unrequited love. k d Lang moves away from her country style and delivers an album full of melancholy and self retribution. Best tracks, Save Me, Mind Of Love, Constant Craving, Season of Hollow Soul and Miss Chatelaine.

Il country degli esordi qui è poco più che un ricordo. K.d. lang, spalleggiata in questo dal suo chitarrista, migliora notevolmente la scrittura, cura maggiormente i suoni e confeziona il suo capolavoro. Almeno tre brani sono immortali ( tra questi l'hit "Constant craving" ), ma è tutto l'album a funzionare ed a stupire.
A beautiful pop album full of superbly crafted songs. Some stunning tracks here in, miss chatelaine, the mind of love, and of course, constant craving, although, season of hollow soul, is the best track here. A lovely record.
This is really a disappointing album. Not worth its place in 1001 Albums.

One of the better pop albums that I have heard. The back half of this album is definitely better. "Season Of Hollow Soul" was my favorite track.
Kd's move to mainstream. Great songs and an amazing voice. Fav tracks Constant Craving & Save Me.
