One of the best lyricist in Hip-Hop, with one of it's best songs (I Used To Love H.E.R.), and love from Michelle Obama.

Before he was starring in Hell on Wheels, Common was carrying the torch for intelligent, positive rap. He even was derided in the hip-hop community for being wussy. Despite this, some on the religious right complained when he was invited to the White House by Obama, because he celebrated cop-killing and gansta lifestyles... Nice.
Either way, Common's rapping is decent, his production has improved since he became buds with Kanye and Pharrell, and his lyrics are consistently strong. A talent.
