Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 4% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 79.3/100, a mean average of 80.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.7/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 11.0.

This band deserves more love! Are they particularly amazing? No, but boy they are enjoyable and honest in what they do, for better or worse. They are one of my favorite bands without a doubt, even I acknowledging that they are not untouchable like Pink Floyd or Radiohead, they definitely have their value.
Mark's voice work is great most of the time, so is his guitar. His songs are a lot of times good but his lyrics specifically are hit or miss, they vary from being interesting (like "Closer to Home"), to relatable although a bit cheesy ("Heartbreaker" and "Bad Time"), to mediocre or bland ("Anybody's Answer", "Creepin'") and to completely and utterly cringe almost all of the times he talks about earth, war or politics (First occurred in the song "Sin's a Good Man's Brother", and usually plagues at least one song in almost all of their discs afterwards and the worst offender is basically the whole Phoenix album and don't get me started in the mindboggling "She's got to Move me").
Don's Drum work is above competent and great at times, I really like his drumming style and he is not a bad singer (for the most part) or songwriter.
Mel's bass is decent but don't usually blow my mind, there are some tracks that he is above average but he is the most replaceable of the original trio.
A band that was unfairly maligned by rock critics in the 70s. Are they the smartest, most progressive or most lyrically developed band in the world? No, of course not. A lot of their songs aren't that deep or meaningful, or even musically that impressive. But that's not what Grand Funk Railroad are about. They're about fun, anthemic, hard-rocking party rock. They're not trying to be Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple or even Aerosmith for that matter. And for that alone, they're definitely shinin' on.
Fun bunch of guys just rockin' out most of the time. Few pieces that stand out, but usually good for a good time.
Grand Funk Railroad es una de esas bandas que no entiendo porque no resiven tanto apoyo, son increibles musicalmente y son los creadores de innumerables éxitos.
Not amazing but a good sturdy interesting rock act.
Missed then 1st time around but really getting into this band now. Better late than never. Brillaiant power trio. Some great live albums.
