Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 7% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 78.0/100, a mean average of 77.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.2/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 14.9.

Criminally underrated. This band was amazing!
I rather listen to their Greatest Hits than their studio albums. Tight instrumentation, great reggae influence, eclectic production but too many fillers. Synchronicity is probably the closest to a non-filler Police album, and the only studio album I like from them.
These guys have crafted some iconic tunes
The original 2nd Brittish Invasion band.
Too much faux reggae and Sting's voice is thin. However, both Stewart Copland and Andy Summers went on to prove to be excellent musicians in other genres post-Police.
Police and Bruce Springsteen are the flag bearers of Dad Rock.
The oddball of new wave; easily one of the most successful acts of the movement, and yet they lack the coolness or finesse of their lowering charting contemporaries. A band with a so-so sound and a series of hits that never really hit the mark in my book.

Great band. My favourite song is Don't Stand So Close To Me.
Compilations shouldn't be allowed in the 20 most rated songs of a band, when you have four, "Every Breathe You Take" in the ratings...
I think Sting And The Police have twenty odd good singles and a good album but they are more about the singles. Most of their singles have stood the test of time.
As for The Real Truth... This is purely based on albums, not an overall package of live, song writing, importance, influence et cetera. Obviously not enough people rate their albums now, so get over it!
