Top 40 Greatest Music Albums

I'm inclined to place certain albums high out of a sense of social obligation. I am trying to resist that temptation, instead placing them in the order in which I actually value them. An influential album may be "great," but I want to include the ones that I actually want to listen to, not just admire myself for owning. The chief question for me is, "What albums could I least do without?"
I should also add that this list, composed on August 1, 2013, would be different if composed on any other day of my life.

Band most likely to make me want to throw away all other albums. You have to admire an artist on a never ending quest for musical influences, willing to play with them to create something both catchy and innovative. Which album I rank higher depends on when you get me.
The best album by the best band you've never heard of.
