Quite simply, the album of the year. the lyrics are extremely powerful (from the Wesley Snipes tax evasion statement "Wesley's Theory" to the blaxploitation "King Kunta), the instrumentals are complex and interesting (particularly the jazzier side of the album), and the wide range of topics discussed is enormous. this is pretty much the defining album for black America in 2015, and is an instant classic.

One of the best singer-songwriter albums of the 21st century. father john misty is at all times cynical yet self-aware, abrasive yet sappy, romantic but grounded. some of the most quotable lyrics of 2015 (in the songs "holy shit", "bored in the USA", and "the night josh tillman came to my apt."). also backed with cinematic and soaring instrumentals with lush string sections and tender acoustic guitars.

It's just super emotional and uplifting. "sunday candy" is one of, if not the best song of 2015.
