Watching this album's slow-burning success and Moby's stratopheric rise to the echeleons of red carpet fame was marvellous. This shy, nerdy environmentalist from Manhattan was one of the big boys now! Awesome!
Watching Moby's subsequent descent into lame, stereotypical pop star behaviour (drugs, groupies, you name it) wasn't, albeit predictable. Still, Play was easily one of the biggest musical highlights of the late 90s. [First added to this chart: 05/17/2017]
