"Heartattack and vine, is half, a dirty rock album, and half, beautiful piano ballads. Waits growls and hollers on the opening title track, a great bluesy cut. Waits also goes for that gritty rock sound on the excellent, downtown, the percussion heavy, til' the money runs out, and the penultimate ..."  [+]  Reply

"OK, maybe it was my more up-beat sensibility at the time (which hasn't really changed that much in the thirty-odd years since - a killer riff in an upbeat pop song is still irresistible), but I think this album is a classic and one of my all-time favourites. Basic synth pop of its time but the ba..."  [+]  Reply

"Always liked PJ, but this album completely won we over for her. It is radical departure from the explosive debut albums, but the aggression or passion is still very much there, although much more hidden. She uses her voice in a different way, very much at the limit of her reach. Daring and haunti..."  [+]  Reply

"Possibly one of the most under-rated LPs of the last 10 years. Just as Broadcast found their sound - halfway between the Young Marble Giants and Nico - poor Trish died of pnemonia... a terrible, terrible loss. Tender Buttons will serve as their epitaph, but what a fitting, beautiful and mesmerisi..."  [+]  Reply

"Pretty consistent album. I think it lacks a killer track, but it's nice to listen from start to finish. If you like Interpol you have to check it out Best tracks: Lights, Munich, All Sparks, Blood, Bullets"  Reply

"The Dandy Warhols' run through a gamut of influences on "Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia". "Godless" opens this album with an acoustic guitar reminiscent of George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord' and takes turn into a Burt Bacharach vibe... A spacey psychedelic "Mohammed" has a chilled Beatleish ton..."  [+]  Reply

"The first part of this album doesn`t count. It`s a compilation... Fantastic work, but available on proper albums. I rank this based on the second part - it`s almost better than Dangerous. Scream is underrated, and Stranger in Moscow is fantastic."  Reply

"Having never listened to a Thundercat project, I didn't know what to expect but I sure didn't expect a love letter to Tokyo and Goku. Even on first listen I can sense so much character in it and I'm really looking forward to getting to know the album better. Also can I just talk about that cover...."  [+]  Reply

"I will shamelessly admit I had no idea who Mdou Moctar is prior to listening to this album, so you can easily imagine it was quite the experience, something like a punch in the face. The first thing I noticed is that - in my opinion at least - the production’s handling is exemplary. Despite addin..."  [+]  Reply
