Top 14 Music Albums of 1969
by Luigii
So I have been on a bit of a 69 binge after listening to Karma about a week ago, which made curious of this year and its top 100. Now I can tell that this top 100 will be interesting due to some albums like Jimmy Cliff's self titled as well as King Crimson's album is a lot harder to find on the internet as well as a few albums on this list are considered trash like the Shaggs album. But I wanted to put this year to the test to see if it's a monumental occasion for music. Hell it's getting close to be 50 years by next year. So let's see where this year takes us.
Progress report: So far 13 of the top 100 of 69 is in this list. But other obscure albums that I enjoy will be on this list. Which will entail a custom chart for top 100 of 69. Won't be out right away. Hell I don't want to make any promises when it will be out but that will be a crazy house when that's formed to its completion.

Honestly it's either this album or the album I have as second place that would be album of the year for 69. Because even after so long, this is still vibrant, explosive and just a joy to listen to. Hell the first time I heard this, I was so hyped where I feel like I would break shit. But I don't want to do that. But as of now, this is the king of the year.

And while I do love Hot Rats, this is the other album where I might have some doubt for my top pick. Because like Hot Rats, is hasn't lost its luster at all. Hell this album is part of the massive blueprint that was The Epic by Kamasi Washington in recent times. Hell this album does get me teary eyed on how well done this album is. Really need to venture within his other projects.

For number 3 of 69 it's this. A record that if I get multiple listens, the grade will change from a 95 to an 100 when it gets the chance. And I do mean it with how this is very psychedelic while being the prototype of electronic music. Hell the beginning of the second track could have been a Gas track if the production was a lot hazier. Also want to point out that the vibe of this album feels like how people think the future would be and was somewhat correct.

The first album I ever tackled for 69 as well as my first Miles album I've listen to. I have to admit, it's been a bit since I have listen to this album. So hopefully I can go back to this to see if it still holds up. But I feel like it will.

We would never know if Janis would have a stellar discography if she didn't pass away in the early 70's. But if she didn't, she might have a more insane spellbinding technique in the similar vein as Joni. Hell it makes me curious if Janis hadn't die would Joni have the killer album lineup that she has? Oh shit! Haven't said anything for the album. Well it's a near masterful album for the 60's, a prototype for jazz rock and still kills modern day acts.

This is insane! Lavish production, a vocal powerhouse and just feels like heaven. Now I do know that in his future he would be more ambitious to go into darker territories and I'm curious for those albums but this album is the definition of the gold standard.

This is an excellent foreign record that is not only varied in music that was popular for the time but is also exciting to boot. I have to expand my uptake of foreign albums. Usually these are those gems that an American like me have to go digging for.

Joni. This woman to me is the textbook definition of excellence. Hell even when I got a long while before I finish up her discography, I got to say that the albums I have heard so far, there hasn't been an album that I detest from her. Her sound as well as her presence makes her one of my personal favorite artists from back in the day.

Well another album from the top 20 of this year that I adore a lot. Maybe not the most explosive by recent standards, but I'd be lying if I said if this didn't excite me or feel something. Because to me, this is excellent. Like Scott Walker or Joni Mitchell or Janis Joplin, Dusty In Memphis is the essential of gold standard albums.

I don't know if this is his best album. I find Borboletta a way more engaging record than this. But to me this is textbook example to making sticky catchy songs that have a lot of groove and soul. To the point where I should have listen to him at a younger age.

Thank you Bobby. Kozmic Blues is such a near masterful record that it has so much heart and soul that I love everything about it. Hell could give it a 100 if I wanted to. Also thank you for the chart so far. Need to insert both Abbey Road the King Crimson album and The Band album in this chart.

I'm so glad someone else likes Kozmic Blues. Even a lot of her fans don't like it. I think it's her best album. And the title song is the best thing she ever did. The rest of your chart is good too.
