This was a really exciting period for me and my mates. Lots of good new bands and plenty of them coming to venues near enough for us to go to.

I started to become a bit sulky about the Smiths because everyone was discovering them and I worried that they were becoming too commercial. This album wiped away those doubts.

I love the cover and Sonic Youth were at their most exciting at this time.

The album title actually has a right pointing arrow before Eternity. The record is made of 13 tracks that are stick grooves. This means that they just play forever. It is made of clear vinyl, so it is nearly impossible to see where each track begins because you can see through to the other side and tracks become confused. Add to this the etching of a snake swallowing its tail and you have stylus hell. It plays at 45rpm, but also sounds great at 33 & 78. My strangest album. He did a CD with many of the tracks on, but it is just not the same.

How can they do that to I Love Her All The Time? It might even be better than the original. No Skinheads bowling on this album.

I first saw the Shoppies when they supported Jesus & Marychain in Edinburgh. They were fantastic that evening and went on to make great singles, great sessions for Peel and this great album (although my copy of it is called Shop Assistants).

Marc Riley from the Fall creates a great album. It has a really good cover of Eno's Baby's on Fire and a black on black design on the sleeve.

The second album from Aberdeen's finest has the sort of cover you'd expect from an eighties aspiring chart band, but the Minks were never going to be that.

Reminds me of growing up listening to college radio in the 80s.
