I started to become a bit sulky about the Smiths because everyone was discovering them and I worried that they were becoming too commercial. This album wiped away those doubts.

I first saw the Shoppies when they supported Jesus & Marychain in Edinburgh. They were fantastic that evening and went on to make great singles, great sessions for Peel and this great album (although my copy of it is called Shop Assistants).

Marc Riley from the Fall creates a great album. It has a really good cover of Eno's Baby's on Fire and a black on black design on the sleeve.

I discovered the Woodentops when they supported Everything But the Girl at Dundee University. They blew the headliners away that night with their power and confidence. This is a great album.
