Top 21 Music Albums of 1968
by Junomoogmello

This chart is under construction. Albums are being added as re-listened to. Only music which I own on vinyl, CD or tape is added. Why? Because I personally think digital formats have ruined music and the music industry. By adding comments as I re-listen to albums, the reviews remain fresh and hopefully helpful to other music lovers. ?

Fantastic psychedelic album which was years ahead of its time when first released. Beautiful dreamy female vocals compliment a plethora of instruments and sound effects. The recording quality on the vinyl re-release which I have just purchased is excellent. Cloud Song could become one of my all time favourite psychedelic tracks. Such a diverse and creative album as this will sit in a very high position in my record collection. [First added to this chart: 07/10/2020]

This album is the epitome of sixties psychedelia. Fortunate to get a rare re-issue on marbled orange vinyl which is very fitting! Remember orange paint and curtains being very hip in the late sixties. As for the music and production, superb! [First added to this chart: 08/30/2020]

I absolutely love this album, particularly the first two tracks. A psychedelic masterpiece. One of my most listened to psychedelic albums. Definitely the best Byrds album. I thought the Nils Lofgren version of 'Goin Back' was superb but this version trumps it. [First added to this chart: 08/14/2020]

A superb whimsical psychedelic album. I love the vocal harmonies, organ soloing on Time Of The Season and flute flourishes in other places on the album. Love it! [First added to this chart: 10/25/2020]

A great psychedelic album and worth owning for the first three tracks alone. Futuristic and experimental for it's time and it still sounds out as a true classic today. The only track I don't like is Corporal Clegg. [First added to this chart: 12/22/2023]

A psychedelic album which is full energy! Superb musicianship from the off, keys and lead guitar continually interchanging. The drums and bass carve out the tight grooves throughout the album. Love the organ lead on the title track and the lead guitar is soooo psychedelic! [First added to this chart: 12/22/2023]

A great psychedelic album from 1968. A real mixture of musical styles and instrumentation and an album I would highly recommend to any seasoned psychedelic music fans. The vinyl re-issue which I recently purchased is housed in the identical amazing sixties sleeve art which completes the package in my view. 'Orange Lace' is a personal favourite. Albums like this are overshadowed by the more well known artists of the era as is often the case with lesser known bands. There is some great music on here, rock with attitude and a with psychedelic tinge to some tracks. Born to be Wild and The Pusher steal the show. The latter is a classic psychedelic track, the lyrics are very thought provoking. [First added to this chart: 08/07/2021]
