Another album to add to the astonishingly good wave of British Post-Punk at the moment. Shame has a similar sound to Idles but a lot less manic and more melodic. The ideas here are fantastic, although slightly unperfected and astray in places. The second half of “Orchid” goes a tad astray with an overload of ideas and a lack of real direction. However, this doesn’t stop the song from being one of the highlights of the album. Other highlights include “Adderall (End Of The Line)”, “Yankees” and “All The People” which is a fantastic and triumphant closer to the album. Highly recommended album.

This sounds like a more laid back and mellow version of “Punisher” by Phoebe Bridgers in places. It has similar vocals, maybe not as many impactful hooks and it has less of an edge, but the similarities are uncanny. Good stuff.

Any doubts that they wouldn't recover from Isaac Woods departure are quickly squished with this fantastic live album.
Definitely prefer the tracks with Mae Kershaw as the lead vocalist over the male vocalists. Not that Tyler Hyde's and Lewis Evan's vocals are inherently bad, just that with Mae she seems to have a fragility to her vocals in the same way that Isaac had.
The obvious standout is "Turbines/Pigs" which is a gorgeous piano ballad, but "The Boy" and "Dancers" are fantastic as well.
I was very worried about how BC/NR would move into their next full length album but this has very much put my mind at ease. Cannot wait for future releases from them.

Very sombre album and slow paced album by Blur’s standards. The usually eccentric frontman and vocalist, Damon Albarn, adapts a very monotone and borderline depressed vocal delivery that grows to be a better fit as the album wears on. While it may not have Blur’s usual energy, it does still have their fantastic songwriting. The album does sound like a band that is on the wind down, but this is far from a washed effort.

A lot more mature effort in the first half of the album with less of the bouncier pop they are well known for. The second half is absolutely fantastic. My personal favourite is the synth-led "I Don't Know What You See In Me" which has been etched in my brain for the last week.

A theatrical and progressive concept album that works sensationally well. One of the best run-times this year, there really isn’t a moment wasted. The variety of tempos and textures on display here is sensational. A really good standout from this year.

The opener is a rock opera Meat Loaf would be proud of. “Cry To Heaven” is a song made for an 80’s action film with its bombastic production. “The Ballad Of Spook & Mercy” is brilliant balladry and so is the stunning closer “More Than Death”. Overall, this is a great nod to the sound of 80’s rock.

A really nice and relaxing feel to this album. The synths are brilliant, particularly in the first two tracks. The fragile, yet chilled vocal from Howard really adds to the atmosphere. The relaxing mix of smooth sounding guitars and synths on the tracks “Days Of Lantana” and “Moonraker” give them a really soothing sway and make them a highlight on the album. Apart from a slight overuse of glitchiness in the second half of the album, there is not much to complain about. It is a very solid album.

The album starts off in a slow progressive house vibe with the tracks “Alps” and “Be Careful”. It then transitions into the highlight of the album, “It’s Just A Bit Of Blood” which is just a beautifully poppy shoegaze track. The final track “A Final Movement” also needs a mention for it’s fantastically laid back and hazy atmosphere it creates over it’s 8 minute run time. In summary, this is a really nice indie style shoegaze album that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Really Gripping British Folk for the most parts. A couple of questionable decisions with some of the songs. My main gripe is synths and auto-tune being used on a mainly traditional album. Overall, it is intense in parts, yet delicate and and beautiful in others. "Rare Receipts" is an incredibly layered folk spectacular. Great Album.
