A Great album very Beatles influenced that's probably why I like it so much best tracks I'm Outta Time,Waiting For The Rapture,Falling Down,Shock Of The Lightning.
The best groove in any Oasis albums. Not their best, but thought it was a really solid record. Their second best of the 2000s.
Someone gave me a copy of this album but I didn't listen to it for about 2 years. The days of me counting down the days with excitement to new Oasis albums being released ended as soon as I heard Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. When I did finally listen to it I have to say it was better than I expected. Since Noel started letting other band members write songs for albums, quality control has dipped. This however contains the only decent song Liam ever written in I'm Outta Time, which along with Bag It Up are the higlights of the album. Its no Definatly Maybe, but its not bad. You get the feeling now though that Noel knew the end was coming and was holding back his best songs for his next project, as his solo album is far better than this.
I really wanted to vouch for this album. It's really not that bad but at the same time I've only listened to it once in the past 3 years and thats cause I couldn't remember what it was like.
This is not a classic, and I don't even know if I'd even call it a good album, but it's probably their best work since Be Here Now, so that's commendable. As always there's some really great songs here but it's not very consistent.
Best Oasis album since Morning Glory. I'm Outta Time is beautiful. The Turning and Falling Down are also highlights.
Straight from the off, this album's cover is already claiming it is a classic. Dedicated artwork. Similar in it's circus ways as 'Stop The Clocks' but that was old material, this is new. A cover which says "I have new songs and your going to be listening for the next 50 years like". Right... now that's out of the way let's hear what we have. Well lots of the tracks here are awash with colour. Like a 6 string water color painting. 'The Shock Of the Lightening' couldn't try harder to make 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' into a Monet piece on plastic. 'The Turning' also tries painting the kebab and chips to slightly better results. Oasis lyrics? Oh they seem like they are getting better! Seriously, 'Bag It Up'. "Someone tell me I'm dreaming, The freaks are rising up through the floor" The floor? The floor!? Not the ceiling!? Wow, he got me there! Guessed his next word wrong! Does the rest of the album hold such surprises? Well 'I'm Outta Time' is sort of a dreamish piece from the back of note book. One of the two brothers said they imagined John Lennon would have covered this if he was still alive and that isn't hard to imagine. Easily an acoustic song could come from this mellow track. 'The Nature of Reality' is a grand tour across the universe in Noel's own submarine while 'Soldier On' is a trippy finale with drums that speak of far away lands. Seriously, it does point into experimental directions they could have went. Unfortunately, this is the end of their journey. An album which puts on a show, doesn't contain much songs for cash and to fill up room. There are praises to sing about this album but it is no Abbey Road. Then again, Abbey Road is Abbey Road and this Dig Out Your Soul. Take it or leave it.
great great cd... top 10 of the 2000s
it's pure rock'n'roll!
This is probably my favorite album by Oasis. Can't think of one bad song,
First half of this album is amazing, all near perfects songs, but then it just goes downhill from there, the second half is weak and lame compared to the first half.
