Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by TracyJacks

Hello!
My chart is more a 'Top Favourite Albums' list than a 'Best Ever albums' one. Though it contains many great albums which are considered to be the best ever albums, I like to have albums on my list which influenced me a lot when I was younger (Blur's 13, Gorillaz, McCartney, Harrison solo albums, Placebo, The Verve, Travis etc). The word 'best' is a very subjective, there are albums here which I think of as one of the best in that decade etc. though others may think of them as horrible choices. It is all subjective: most of them are the 'best' for me because of my experiences, stories connected to an album, my love for a specific genre, or my daily mood. There are no hip hop or heavy metal albums, not because there aren't many brilliant albums amongst them, but because I'm not into many genres. My favourite genres are psychedelic rock/british psychedelia, progressive rock/art rock, experimental/jazz rock, beat and folk rock, indie pop and rock, dance/acid rock, and britpop.

The first ca. 20 albums are all my favourites ever, it really depends on my mood which one I listen to the most, I just love all those albums almost equally.
The other thing is that I am not really into 00s music so you won't find many albums from the last 12 years. I started to listen to music in the late 90s, I loved many bands and albums then, but I was only 12-13 at that time. Later, in the early 00s I started to listen to almost only 60s and early 70s music, the period between 1965-1975 is still my favourite. I listen to 70s or 80s, early 90s albums as well and I discover many brilliant albums through this site too, but it takes time to get know new genres, bands and albums. I try to open my mind to new music, it just takes time for me not to compare today's band to my beloved sixties or seventies artists. :) But I'm on my way to discover more and more albums from different genres and decades.

Hope you enjoy my personal favourites and thank you for having a look at my chart! :-)

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.7/100, a mean average of 89.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.5.

Love the chart description, and a fine choice of albums as well! Would recommend Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree, newer prog and he's great.

Very strong chart. 24 albums in common. I am a big fan of 60s and 70s music, psychedelia and prog rock. One of the better charts I have seen on here.

We have massively similar intrests, I like the huge number of 60s and early 70s albums here. There is a number of artists I have not heard of before outside that I think your chart is superb. Only thing that bugged me was the artic monkeys debut album in your list considering that only few albums 21st century albums are there in your chart.
Have you listened to The Verve EP,their debut LP and Slowdive if not do listen. Also check out my chart and give an honest rating.
I am downloading the Red Crayola album, strange how I missed it all this time till I saw it in ur chart.
