Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by
TracyJacks (2013)
Hello!
My chart is more a 'Top Favourite Albums' list than a 'Best Ever albums' one. Though it contains many great albums which are considered to be the best ever albums, I like to have albums on my list which influenced me a lot when I was younger (Blur's 13, Gorillaz, McCartney, Harrison solo albums, Placebo, The Verve, Travis etc). The word 'best' is a very subjective, there are albums here which I think of as one of the best in that decade etc. though others may think of them as horrible choices. It is all subjective: most of them are the 'best' for me because of my experiences, stories connected to an album, my love for a specific genre, or my daily mood. There are no hip hop or heavy metal albums, not because there aren't many brilliant albums amongst them, but because I'm not into many genres. My favourite genres are psychedelic rock/british psychedelia, progressive rock/art rock, experimental/jazz rock, beat and folk rock, indie pop and rock, dance/acid rock, and britpop.
The first ca. 20 albums are all my favourites ever, it really depends on my mood which one I listen to the most, I just love all those albums almost equally.
The other thing is that I am not really into 00s music so you won't find many albums from the last 12 years. I started to listen to music in the late 90s, I loved many bands and albums then, but I was only 12-13 at that time. Later, in the early 00s I started to listen to almost only 60s and early 70s music, the period between 1965-1975 is still my favourite. I listen to 70s or 80s, early 90s albums as well and I discover many brilliant albums through this site too, but it takes time to get know new genres, bands and albums. I try to open my mind to new music, it just takes time for me not to compare today's band to my beloved sixties or seventies artists. :) But I'm on my way to discover more and more albums from different genres and decades.
Hope you enjoy my personal favourites and thank you for having a look at my chart! :-)

1. (=)![]() | Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band | The Beatles | |||||||||||||||||||

So much was written and said about this album; I think it summarized everything which was Britain in the sixties, the idea of a concept album, Sgt. Pepper's band's 'concert' from until the reprise song and the 'bonus' track, the brilliant a Day in the Life - an incredibly amazing idea. Maybe it is not Beatles' best album, but it is the one I enjoyed the most when I was 10 and it is the one I enjoy listening to the most now as well. Favourites - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, She's Leaving Home, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, Getting Better, A Day in the Life |

Quintessential masterpiece of psychedelia, of the best debut albums of all time. Syd Barrett made just one record with the band, but this made him one of the most important figures in the sixties. I enjoy every second of the album, this gives me often inspiration to my drawnings. Favourites - Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Flaming, Interstellar Overdrive |

I love all of the Beatles albums but I picked Revolver as the second Beatles album in my Top 10. It changed music in 1966, with diverse styles and a huge step to psychedelia it is one of the best albums of all time. My personal favorites: Eleanor Rigby, Tomorrow Never Knows, She said she said. Favourites - I'm Only Sleeping, She Said She Said, I Want To Tell You, Got to Get You Into My Life, For No One, Tomorrow Never Knows |

Fantastic list, it's obvious that thought was put into it.
A lot of great picks! Plus some which will be showing up further down my chart. :P Overall, awesome work!
Thanks for your positive comment. Yours is an impressive chart Tracy. I know where you are coming from, even though the Brit-pop retro/Brill Building entries are not quite my cup of Earl Grey. Personally, I'm also not too keen on the heavily produced orchestral/string-based 60s psychedelia. I much prefer, for instance, Da Capo over Forever Changes and I can't get on with Sgt Peppers, I'm afraid. But we basically sing from the same hymn sheet I think.
As the chart stretched out it got better and more diverse. Got S.F. and Hangman's...not my taste. But I understand where you come from with the opening commentary as well as the album descriptions. I was surprised to not see more Yes and Kinks. A lot of stuff I need to study. Great job.
Any list with SF Sorrow and 13 is great in my book
coming along...
I like it!, especially Blur
Great chart!
Nice chart
Wow... thank you very much :)
I think many solo albums by Beatles are underrated because they are compared with the albums by the band, not the solo artists. And of course, none of them never peaked the bands' albums.
I'll add the next 50 entries as soon as the sites allows me, but that's not yet, unfortunately...
What do you think about Pink Floyd's "The Wall" by the way?
PS. I totally agree with 3/4 of your albums being British
