Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 84.1/100, a mean average of 83.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.5.

Dear alexandermause, two is just not nearly enough to conclude with great music. Take five - no take 9. At least. Then come back here and we can talk.

A strong album with a classic title track. Upon a second listen, it does not, in my opinion, deserve the level of praise that it has received.

People on here are claiming it is one of the greats. I disagree. It is a very good album. The title track is stellar, but the albums as a whole just doesn't match some of the phenomenal work from Mingus, Coltrane, or Davis.

9/10!

This is a great album to listen to if your only just starting to explore the brilliance of jazz music as it is very catchy whilst also maintaining a high level of quality. The melodies are amazing as they engage you with their infectious nature but also relax you due to their delicate tones. This is all down to the performances by the ensemble with the sax and bass deserving a special mention. What drives the album for me though is the piano played by Brubeck whose solos are phenomenal. Musically, this record is extremely strong and it flies by when I listen to it. However, side 1 is superior to side 2 as the melodies and performances feel a little bit weaker on the last 4 songs. It is still good but the record could do with maintaining its consistency all the way through. Overall, this might be the best jazz album to start with due to how enjoyable it is and it is a very strong release as well.

If you're new to Jazz, this is the first thing I'd recommend checking out. The music is catchy but approachable, and you'll hear some MEGA hits of the Jazz world.
