Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.2/100, a mean average of 69.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 21.0.

“My two choices for 1976 are: An album I already own: My favorite Queen album because to me it's the most consistent (A Night At The Opera has in my opinion more filler) and of course also because it has my favorite Queen track. It's theatrical as hell but I adore this song. And next to this there's…”

“Class of '76?! Eddie & The Hot Rods and Pub Rock – A Footnote No More!!! Eddie and the Hot Rods debut, Teenage Depression, may be a bit more raw, but their songwriting solidifed on the second album Life on the Line. Great call, 1Chief! Pub Rock has completely gotten the shaft! I’ve seen countless…”

The missing link between pub rock and punk rock, but to me they still lean towards the first. There's some great covers here (The Kids Are Alright is top) but the best one remains the last track, On The Run, which on live albums is even longer and better than on this regular album. Not everything is great but nevertheless a good one.
