A Cohesive, high quality and mind soothing album
A great album by Van Morrison that really demonstrates that classic style of his very well and has some truly hidden gems that are well worth discovering. These include songs like Cul De Sac, Bulbs and Streets Of Arklow. All of these and many other songs present on here have such a beautiful display of instrumentation that really tells a story to the listener. For example, the guitar on Cul De Sac which is full of emotion and passion and it matches so well with the vocal delivery from Morrison as they both wail and howl in unison. His vocal is another consistency of this record with every song having that unique and very enjoyable voice dominating every lyric and song. However, I do think the record could be shortened a little with there being a couple of weaker tracks. Overall, a few moments hold the record back from the top 2 or 3 of his discography but having this as a 4th or 5th best album is a testament to how good his records are as this is brilliant.

Just got this on vinyl today and only listened once so far, but I fell for it immediately. Beautiful record, right up there with Astral Weeks, which admittedly is the only Van album I'm really familiar with to any significant degree. This album really makes me want to just deep-dive right in, though. Magical.
Listened to this album for the first time only a few weeks ago.
I already know I’ll be listening For the rest of my days.
He is a genius, no question.

Brilliant masterpiece from Van Morrison. Should be receiving the same attention as Astral Weeks on major Greatest Albums of All Times lists.
This album caps off a brilliant six year run for Van that started with Astral Weeks in 1968. In fact, this feels like Astral Weeks less heralded rural cousin and also a more personal affair as there were a lot of changes happening in Morrison's life at this time. A gorgeous record.

Another brilliant masterpiece from Van. "Bulbs" and "Cul de Sac" are tremendous songs, not to mention "Fair Play" or the meandering "You Don't Pull No Punches",,, The closest he ever came to duplicating Astral Weeks.
