Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.7/100, a mean average of 75.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.4.

A good gateway to hip-hop for those that aren't that into it

This is one of my favourite hip-hop albums. Though I will admit that my love for this album is not matched by the album's objective qualities, that doesn't sway my opinion of this disc. Kid Cudi's debut album is a concept album telling of the day in the life of a troubled dreamer, and takes us through his nightmares to a beautiful new day. I love every song on this album, and though other albums might have better verses or better beats (or both), I still would rather listen to this almost any day. (Edited)

This is a very enjoyable project to listen to with some brilliant moments that are extremely infectious and have me singing them days after the album has concluded. The real strengths of this record is the flow and the production. The flow of Kid Cudi is fantastic and he makes it nearly impossible for you to not be able to groove along with him. It makes the run time seem shorter than it is as well and really supports the music on tracks with weaker beats. The productions helps with this massively and makes for a very smooth experience. It feels so clean in its production which makes you be able to properly respect the music and enjoy the nuances of it. However, there is filler content that is a bit more bland and unnecessary to the album. This does drag the quality of the album down as it can be boring in places. Overall, there is a lot of great music on here that combines multiple genres but it is lacking the consistency of the tracks to be considered great. (Edited)

This is easily Kid Cudi's best album. Honest and simple rap music. He should just stay away from producing music and continue to just rap and sing.

The beauty of Man on the Moon is in Kid Cudi’s simple yet emotionally packed rhymes. The beats skew towards the spacey and tripped out on tracks like “Soundtrack 2 My Lyfe”—a track that also has a pronounced guitar riff that never leaves the bars from the second it opens—to the funk rock explosion of “Enter Galactic (Love Connection Part 1).” Cudi is such a likable MC that even when he’s introspectively musing in his own incarnation of emo, he appeals to a wide spectrum of listeners. This broad appeal is especially apparent on “Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare)," featuring both MGMT and Ratatat, whose combined talents bring together an incredible fusion of hip hop and electronic rock.
