Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.1/100, a mean average of 74.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.1.

I am not a huge fan of this album. I do find it quite boring and a bit simple as I would like there to be a bit more to explore musically but every song is just a ballad and that gets so repetitive. Also, I struggle to find a proper good song on this record, some people would point to the big hits but they are just simplistic and one note to me. One of the strengths is the vocal which is full of power and is delivered really well. I can understand when people say it is annoying though as it does get irritating once you hit around the 30 minute mark. Overall, I just don't think this artist is for me as I just couldn't get into the music, however I could be very wrong and after a future listen I could fall in love with this record but right now I'm not keen on it.
When an album is so focused on the vocals and they are too annoyingly stylish for their own good, it makes for a heavily unbalanced combination.
Its 85 plus for me , not really my style of music but their is something appealing about their sound. Florence has a great voice, and their a lot of good songs on it.
Dog Days Are Over is easily the best song on the album and makes it awesome, the rest is solid enough.
Some people will find this record too bloated and commercialized, I'm sure, but what can I say? I love Lungs epic arrangements, and Florence's soaring vocals are completely astonishing.
I get why some find her voice irritating but for me it works very well and I found this album refreshingly different when it came out - plus I like the fact she gives it 100%. There are a lot of great songs here but if anything I prefer their next two albums perhaps as I played this one too much but also I think Ceremonials and How Big are a little more mature and less idiosyncratic.
Fun pop sound. Youtube their live, pared-down Cosmic Love - very highly recommended.
Such a sound. Refreshing and original.
Full of power, full of creativity, full of everything what you can get from music. I don't like this kind of music, but it just amazed me both the singer and the sound. For me the highlight is the "Girl with one eye", but you will love the full album or you will hate it.
Great voice which leads to a great debut. One of the better debuts of the decade with Cosmic Love being a personal standout.
