"I liked this album a lot more than I initially anticipated. A couple of the songs on this were really, really good. I especially liked the songs Rattle that Lock and In Any Tongue."  Reply

"Engravings has a fantastic atmosphere and the sounds keep it interesting the whole way through. The songwriting sort of loses me occasionally though. Certain parts do feel a bit repetitive and I'd prefer if the melodies had more direction. The closing track is absolutely stunning and I just wish ..."  [+]  Reply

"Fantastic album. Incredible songwriting. In fact, these guys were so good that Bill Wyman (he appears on "Love Gangster") was ready to leave the Stones to join them. This one ranks in my top ten double albums. Yes, it's that good! Fave tracks: So Begins The Task Johnny's Garden Move Around It Doe..."  [+]  Reply

"My favourite of the American albums. Rusty cage and southern accents are both epic but the rest of the album has some other wonderful moment. One of the greatest voices in popular music. He could sing the phone book and make people weep. One of the greatest artists of all time, no matter what the..."  [+]  Reply

"Critically acclaimed band that has missed the public adoration they deserve. This their debut album is probably most deserving of classic status. It is a mid 90s lo fi quirky indie classic. Very much an album about weekend drug taking and small town fun.The Fuzzy guitars help set the tone. They h..."  [+]  Reply

And there’s no doubting the ground-breaking nature of this record, pioneering rap in popular culture. The only problem is that it..."  [+]  Reply

"The album begins with some great cover versions. The second part dissolves in less coherent pieces and falls apart a bit. I really like the addition of the Hammond organ on this album, as well as the drumming, which is great. Overall a 70 or 75/100."  Reply
