"The Messenger takes the jangly guitar that is Marr's signature and incorporates it with a slightly heavier sound. Or maybe it's just the modern production I am hearing. "12 Memories is probably the darkest and least commercial album Travis have released . Even the singles tend to seek new grounds for the band, and they are not as immediately catchy as the big hits from the previous two albums. "Great debut from a side project band. Shawn Smith is a fantastic vocalist. This is up there with a lot of the other albums of the early 90's. Reminds me a tad of Screaming Trees.
