Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.7/100, a mean average of 77.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.6.

The rule of cool album. Southern badassery. Sludge at it's finest.

Basically this is the best it gets. This isnt a bad jam in the bunch, and it's an undeniable classic for metal fans to come

Simply put, this is the best heavy-metal album of the 90s, and for my money, of all time. It takes the furocity of Pantera, the groove/classic-rock influence of COC, and combines it with the underground metalcore of Eyehategod/Crowbar to create an epic, southern influenced heavy-metal album. This is heavy-metal with a soul to the music. The music is blistering, groovy, and introspective, often all within the same song. This is the sound of 5 veterans of heavy-metal, who are good friends, making a real record and letting their classic-rock influences flow and one helluva jam session. Gritty, passionate, real metal-music...it's a masterpiece.
