Top 39 Music Albums of 1995
by mrmcrook

This is not a bad year for music at all. Probably one of the better years of the 90's. Even those in the back half and even at the bottom are still decent.

My top 10 favorite songs of 1995
1. Monster Magnet - Almost every track. Hence why it's my #1
2. Garbage - As Heaven is Wide
3. Supergrass - Lose it
4. Shihad - Bitter
5. Alanis Morissette - Hand in my Pocket
6. Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)
7. Oasis - Wonderwall
8. PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love
9. Head Like a Hole - Cornbag Rides Again
10. The Tea Party - The Bazaar

Compilations are rated after studio albums since this is a year list. It's only fair

94.58 This took a while before I realized just how fucking brilliant it is. Thought it alright at first but then some years later while listening to it something clicked. It's all due to when the internal frequencies within line up exactly to the external ones around us. Then....BOOM. Musical god is found 10/24 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

88.33* Great songwriting. Top sequencing with no filler. Any of the tracks on this could have been pushed as singles. This is quite a masterpiece in its own right. 01/25 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

85.90 The best Britpop/rock album there is. It's as Beatles as you can get without it being the Beatles. Not that that's bad. Really good album with a heap of great songs. Mostly killer, not much filler. [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

85.83 An original sounding band and album which is why I love it. Upbeat down tuned somber alternative pop rock. That about sums up the sound even though that sounds very contradictory. Bloody good depressingly happy music. [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

85.38 Cracker debut. Chock full of high energy up-tempo tracks. I don't use the term 'fun' when describing a music type or style. But this is fun music. How can you not love it? 02/24 [First added to this chart: 01/04/2024]

84.64 Top notch album. Consistently great songs with even most of the lesser known tracks being just as good as the hits. Many of them having a very epic feel about them. Again Mike Patton is not just rock vocalist but shows he is the crooning rock king. 11/24 [First added to this chart: 05/11/2023]

83.83* Great album. Way way better than I was ever expecting. So many top tracks right through, too many to be able to pick a favorite. Which is what makes this an outstanding album. 05/25 [First added to this chart: 07/03/2021]

83.50 Another great album from Polly Jean. Interesting overall tone with this, being full of deep heavy rhythms, semi foreboding bass lines and lyrically dark under currents. Fucking love it. One of her best. [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

80.76 When I split from the stupid bitch in 2000, this was a joint CD we both liked. She took it. Just got my own copy now. How familiar it all sounded after 22 years absent. Alt rock made simple. The basic element of their song structure is a bit of a piss take but they do it so well they outshine many other bands of that era by producing better songs. Enjoyable album which deserves more credit than it gets. Good tracks right through [First added to this chart: 09/10/2022]

80.714* Great Alt/punk with a SoCal punk rock vibe added. Very consistent right through. For an album with 14 tracks, there's not really any filler. One of the better from this genre and era. 08/25 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]
