For a short time, Disciple made Christian rock cool, and they did it best on By God with incredible rock hits that never stray away from the message they are bringing. Disciple is not subtle about their message for a moment. They don't use metaphors or ambiguous lyrics. You never need to listen closely to decipher their lyrics. Kevin Young takes his inspiration directly from the Bible, and I love that. Every word being sung feels like a powerful sermon but never a lecture. It is motivating. Behind the strong lyrics is a strong band. Disciple mastered the post-grunge sound and brought it together with low-end guitars blaring loudly and the backing vocals giving so much energy. It is 20 tracks of incredible Christian rock. I used to only listen to Christian rock. Bands like Skillets, Thousand Foot Krutch, RED, they all dominated my playlists. Now, Disciple is the band that has aged with me. Their old stuff holds up in my books, but By God is an INCREDIBLE album that stands strong not just among Christian bands, but among any post-grunge band ever. Every time I hear this album, it strengthens my faith and passion. Disciple did their job on this album. After 20 great tracks to get you hyped about Jesus, Kevin Young delivers a brief yet powerful sermon that'll resonate in the hearts of many.

One of the greatest Christian rock music albums of all time. Up there with dc Talk's "Jesus Freak" and Switchfoot's "The Beautiful Letdown". Powerful sermon given by Kevin at to close out a great Christian rock album. The band doesn't hide their faith here, and I love it.
