Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.8/100, a mean average of 76.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.0.

I'm feeling strong Loveless vibes here, but it is nowhere near as classic. It is Deerhunter's most experimental album, creating hypnotic and psychedelic soundscapes on the first half, and more traditional indie and shoegaze on the second half.

Fav track: Octet

Many of the instrumental tracks are completely forgettable.

I love the way this album flows. The tracks segue into one another really really nicely.

Absolutely hypnotic. Put me to sleep, and not in the worst way. Very interesting and imaginative.

Certainly deerhunter''s most experimental work. A heap of sonic guitar effects, distorted vocals and lengthy instrumental sections still make this a great listen however. Fans of halcyon digest may find this to be a bit of an adjustment at first, though fans of shoe gaze/ noise rock acts such as MBV and sonic youth will be instantly enthralled.

It was a very strong listen. Smooth riveting guitar leads, psychedelic wandering cleans vocals, thumping bass, the occasional distorted analogous ambient track. Everything you could want from a Deerhunter album is here.

Best track: Cyptograms.

If you like this I recommend Monomania from their discography it's the most similar.
