Now I'm a massive fan of Deerhunter, especially their albums Cryptograms, Microcastle/Weird Era Cont. & Halcyon Digest. Nobody seems to pull off the same blend of garage rock, neo-psych, ambient, post-punk, shoegaze, noise rock & krautrock (which they describe as "ambient-punk") quite like they do. Although, it seems I have found one such act that comes very close. Their name? Ulrika Spacek. Don't worry, until recently I hadn't heard of them either but I'm so glad I got the chance to come across them. Now I'm addicted to this album. It's just like the album I mentioned before; Microcastle. And it even brings to mind the same comparisons of other influential artists like Faust, My Bloody Valentine & Can while throwing a certain Radiohead tinge into the mix. It's so good in fact, that I think it'll kick Slowdive out of my top 10 and Alex G from 9th to secure its position there, just behind Vince Staples. Just can't wait to discover what else they have waiting for me in their catalog. (P.S. that cover too! Jesus Christ, do I love it!)

No great change here - which is disappointing, especially as The Album Paranoia sounded so promising. Unlike that album this one also lacks some of the TUNES! that made it such a good listen, favouring instead to retreat back into their own world - which is interesting enough, but not very exciting.
