Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.4/100, a mean average of 69.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.1.

I've never heard anything quite like this. There's nothing familiar about this ugly... I'll see myself out. I'm awed by how much these janky, senseless rhythms vibe with me. I loved their first album but some of it felt (intentionally, I'm sure) outside the realms of actual music and this somehow seems so focused to me. I feel that they've tapped into some completely unfounded absurdity and formed it into something meaningful. God bless the Red Krayola, for real.

God Bless is the second of two 1960's psychedelic masterpieces of Mayo Thompson. Thompson composed it after a stay in New York and a collaboration with Joe Byrd of the United States Of America. This album is just as experimental as the debut but slightly less unified. The album still shows a natural bent towards the ways of the learned American avant-garde (from Varese to Cage), that was to influence many bands of the post-rock and post-punk era.
