Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.2/100, a mean average of 74.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.5.

This album is Electrifying, The overall tone has some psych blues/jaZZ undertones. But that is not all the powerful MIKE BLOOMFIELD guitar sets the tone. The r&b soul elements with a nice horn section make this an album that deserves more attention.

Really good psychedelic blues. Whoever this Ron Polte is really knows how to write a song. The ones credited to him on Wikipedia are my favorite but he seems to just be a friend of the group. I read it may have been a contractual thing to put a nonmembers name down. Excellent guitar work and solid vocal performances from both leads. "Wine" is a bit of an unfortunate relic given the Janis Joplin line.

The whole narrative around this very urbane album is, and always was, "Why isn't it a big hit like it was meant to be?" There are all sorts of reasons, but if you forget all that and just get into it anyway, you're left with a great 60s gem that isn't in every collection, so it doesn't get overplayed...plus it has Mike Bloomfield ripping blues lines.
