Not much has changed. Same consistent Weezer sound. Rating (76.00)

Weezer enters the 2010s with Hurley which, despite featuring the popular Lost character it is named after on the cover, isn't quite as gigantic as the name suggests. It's a very safe record, not trying to be overly creative or experimental and consequently, it also ends up being slightly forgettable. The sound returns to a slightly tougher and harmonious sound, but the lyrics remain mostly on the same level as before, including the return of strange comedic texts, such as "Where's My Sex?". Then there are bleak and unmelodious songs, like "Run Away". The sole standouts are "Memories", "Trainwrecks" and "Hang On"

Two years later, I stand by my last comment. massively underrated album and easily top 5 Weezer

It's really not THAT bad of an album.
Hurley is definitely a mess, but it's an enjoyable mess. Songs like Trainwrecks and Unspoken are some the band's best work post Pinkerton and all those are songs are missing are some soul crushing guitar solos
After the stink of Radditude and rumors of the end of Weezer, they hurry up and a year later release Hurley to prove they aren't extinct yet.
It's a rush job as the production of these songs prove. I love me some Hurley from Lost but ultimately I ask why? Why name an album after him? Are you that out of ideas and things to say? Are you in that much of a hurry to move on from Radditude to slap any old name and face on an album?
Train wrecks is one of my favorite Weezer songs. The rest of this breezes along amicably enough and doesn't offend or embarrass which is a plus at this point in their career.
Like the title and cover art none of it seems necessary and seems to only serve to help us forget Raditude. It's average and middle of the road in Weezer catalogue.

My 3rd favorite Weezer album behind the obvious other two. Best tracks: Unspoken, Run Away, Memories and Ruling Me. Worst Track: Time Flies

I'm not a big Weezer fan or anything, but this is my 2nd favorite album of theirs after the blue album. Other than the last song, Time Flies, I think it's very good. I wasn't expecting to like this album so much. But it's a very fun album. My favorite songs are Ruling Me and Unspoken.
