Album of its year for me-- just a great great album from maybe the greatest western band ever; great song after great song, musicianship from Lloyd Maines, Ponti Bone, and Jesse Taylor all over it. Essential.
Ely's third studio album Down on the Drag (MCA, 1979) is a step down from this first two essential records. It's mostly saved by the Butch Hancock compositions.
Recommended.
