Letter to Laredo is the ninth studio album (MCA, 1995) by Texas singer-songwriter Joe Ely.

This one is often citied as one of his best, and it's a decent set with some flaws. The set of songs is good, with a reprise of Butch Hancock's She Never Spoke Spanish to Me, as well as the Tom Russell classic "Gallo del Cielo." Bruce Springsteen also makes an appearance as a backup singer but his presence is hardly detected.

Aside from the decent set of songs, the acoustic and Spanish influences get tired after awhile, making listeners long for Ely's energetic rockabilly records.

Recommended.

A-Side: All Just to Get to You
B-Side: Gallo Del Cielo
