Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 11% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.8/100, a mean average of 74.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

An album that takes it time to build up and allows its song to come to a complete conclusion. It is a very rewarding album and if you give it the time it deserves the music will demonstrate that to you but it does take some patience to be able to see that. The drums are fantastic and provide a backbone to each track that really maintains the tempo and it guides you through the album. It creates a fantastic atmosphere as well with it sounding quite dark and mysterious and then when the guitars and vocal build on top it creates a beautiful style of music that is very unique and quite similar to shoegaze. The lyrics are great as well and allow us to make our own perceptions of what he is trying to say making it a very relatable listen. However, a couple songs do feel less fleshed out than others and some of the performances in places could be better. Sometimes the vocal does falter a little but the majority of the time it is very enjoyable. Overall, an album that deserves more praise than it has as it has a lot of hidden gems on here and it really does create a fantastic vibe for the listener.

Just an absolutely beautiful album. I was somehow recommended this based on my interest in Sonic Youth, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but I'm glad I gave it my attention.

Very surprised at the low popularity of this album even in a sie like this. Best eg of Shoegaze music since the 90s.

Slept on classic. Am in the minority mind. Shame, give it a listen!

Another album with a very distinctive sound like Loveless by MBV. Takes a few listens but a very rewarding experience!
