Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.9/100, a mean average of 67.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.1.

Time and Motion, Test for Echo & Driven are excellent powerful tracks. Resist is one of my favourite and a hidden gem. Dog Years and Virtuality are mediocre, yet this is the last finest album produced by Rush, it goes downhill from here.

Keeping that hard edge going and some much more proggy tracks. Driven is great. Time and Motion wouldn't be out of place on a late 70s Rush record. Overall though, it feels a little bit stale to me.

I found this to be a huge step up from Counterparts, which I found to be monotonous enough to not be able to listen to nonstop. This one I can hang with all the way through. There was some nice musical evolution back toward the heavy side as well, particularly in evidence on my favorite track on the album, 'Driven.'

It's...an average album. Pretty bad by Rush's standards. The production has taken a step back from Counterparts: it's kind of bland! It's sad, too, because this is easily one of Neil's best drumming albums. Geddy's basslines are fine, but I get the feeling the band was pretty uninspired here (as they were on Presto for the most part).

The first three songs are fine, and Limbo certainly had potential (though the "Wall of Sound" nature of the guitar really drives things down). Everything else is mediocre to downright bad. "Dog Years" and "Virtuality" are in the Rush song cellar.
