One important collection I would look for is 50 Coastin' Classics, which includes not only The Coasters, but also The Robins. Also very excellent is Let The Boogie Woogie Roll: Greatest Hits 1953-58 by The Drifters...pre Ben E. King, fronted by a few great singers including Clyde McPhatter. The Great 28 for Chuck Berry. I would start with Rhino Records...they have a lot of this stuff on compilation discs by group and genre that you can get much easier & cheaper than hunting down singles. Even better is Collectables Records.

this is probably the first time that someone has added a doo wop /early R&b album to this site..Lately, I have been buying old original 45s from the early to mid 50s of r/B and doo wop..the stuff that wasn't played on the small town (2000 people) radio station where I grew up..but they are expensive..One of my favorite singles that I have purchased is the Orioles, "You're the only one" on Jubilee, it is so amazing..I was trying to find it on itunes or youtube, so I could send it to my friends to check out, but I have only found it on 45 also, bought "If I should lose you", by Dreamlovers, "to the end" by the Casualtones, "Blue Velvet", by the Clovers, "Ookey Ook"(which is fantastic), the Penguins, "this is the night" by the Valiants, and of course "Maybelline" by C, Berry...this stuff is so great, I am so excited about finding more...do you like these? what do you recommend?
